Safety and Security
Your child's safety is our #1 priority.
We are very careful about who may pick your child up. If you wish someone to pick up, you must have that person's name on your application form. The staff do know most of the parents and have a copy of the pick up authorization sheets in their classrooms. They are not, however, able to know all the people authorized to pick up all the children who attend our Center. Pick up people will need to show photographic identification.
We have three biometric identification pad check-in systems located throughout the hallways at Catch A Star. These systems allow parents to electronically sign their child in and out, check their child’s account information, and view immunization requirements. Those authorized to pick up a child, are put into the software system by a Catch A Star employee. Their fingertip is then scanned on the biometric ID pad. The fingerprint is formatted into a series of code numbers which are there after recognized by the check-in system every time the authorized pick-up person places that same finger on the ID pad.
The system electronically scans hundreds of data points on the finger that are then processed as a data string through two proprietary systems. Once registered in the Procare system, prompts guide one through the few steps it takes to complete the daily procedure. Upon system recognition, the pick-up person is also reminded of any special messages from the office.
Kimberly Hare, Catch A Star’s Director, demonstrated how easy the system is to use and how quickly it checks children in and out of their classrooms.
"We opted to go with this system as opposed to an ID card system where you would have to swipe a card because that is just one more thing you have to remember. You always have your finger with you."
Catch A Star hopes that it will make their families’ busy lives a little simpler as well as keep open their communication lines.
